Position Function Summary

The role of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at La Familia Medical Center (LFMC) is a full time position including both direct patient care and executive leadership for the planning, implementation and delivery of all direct medical services to patients. The position reports to the LFMC Chief Executive Officer. The time commitments of this position will include approximately 40% in the direct provision of scheduled patient care and 60% typically dedicated to medical administrative duties. The Chief Medical Officer has primary responsibility for ensuring the LFMC Quality Improvement and Quality Assurance program (QI/QA) addresses all clinical programs of LFMC, including dental services, and is carried out across all patient service sites, with the goal of achieving program objectives and performance standards, and the provision of high quality care.

The Chief Medical Officer works collaboratively with other clinical and non-clinical leadership to facilitate effective clinical support services and overall patient service operations, and to ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards affecting either patient care or business operations.

The Chief Medical Officer also maintains professional relationships with state and local community leaders and agencies to advocate on behalf of LFMC and its patients regarding key issues involved in healthcare delivery and the improvement of health status for LFMC patients and the medically underserved population of Santa Fe County.

The CMO supervises a budgeted staff of program managers who carry out delegated tasks in the scope of CMO responsibilities outlined above.
